On 16 May 2014, at 4pm, a press-conference "Characteristics of the Presidential race in Khmelnytsk oblast if compared to the general situation in Ukraine" will be held by a regional office of the Civil Network OPORA.

Regional Coordinator of Civil Network OPORA Andrii Popyk will tell about:

  • main characteristics of the Presidential race in Khmelnytsk oblast if compared to the general situation in Ukraine;
  • awareness and monitoring products of the Civil Network OPORA, particularly: 2014 Map of violations; training platform for election observers; voter awareness videos created by the OPORA, which are already being broadcasted on leading national media; and about the recruitment of civic observers for Presidential election.

Civic monitoring conducted by OPORA - is a type of network activity, aimed at impartial assessment of the preparation and conduct of elections, as well as preventing electoral violations through comprehensive civic action. Since March, OPORA conducts a wide observation campaign during snap Presidential election, interim Parliamentary elections (district #83), and special local elections. The organization cooperates with 175 long-term observers, who are watching the course of election campaign in all Ukrainian regions. On the Election Day on May 25, 3,000 activists will join them to conduct the parallel vote tabulation, based on statistical sample.
