After working for a long time in the voting district # 165 in Ternopil region, former Head of the Security Service of Ukraine and Our Ukraine party Valentyn Nalyvaichenko has all chances to become a deputy from the UDAR party. This information is spread by the mass media and is refuted neither in Nalyvaichenko’s close circles nor in the UDAR.
Last week information about the possible nomination of Valentyn Nalyvaichenko for a candidate from the UDAR appeared on the internet portal “Poglyad”. The fact that the UDAR was uncertain about the candidate in the district # 165 of Ternopil region till the very end indirectly supports this statement. At the same time, when the information about the possible nomination of Nalyvaichenko was spread, the local members of the UDAR party announced a writer Natalka Mykhno to be an official candidate in this constituency.
OPORA contacted the press service of Valentyn Nalyvaichenko and the UDAR party for comments. And although none of them confirmed this political step, OPORA did get the refutation either. Press secretary of the possible candidate could not provide any information because of the vacation period. In turn, Head of the UDAR oblast organization advised to wait for Nalyvaichenko personal official statement.
On Wednesday, July 25 all local weeklies were published without Nalyvaichanko’s advertisements. This fact can be conceived of as the evidence that election campaign of the candidate is over. Lately it was the first time when OPORA noticed the absence of materials about Valentyn Nalyvaichenko in printed media. There was no information about his activities in the district or his statements regarding any social or political event. Moreover, among the published social ratings that estimate citizens’ level of trust to the candidates, the name of Nalyvaichenko was not found in the list of candidates of Zboriv voting district.
We underline that Valentyn Nalyvaichenko was one of the first to start the election campaign in the voting district # 165 in Ternopil region. The candidate not only frequently visited the population centers of the constituency but it was his team that organized the first primaries in Ukraine, where Nalyvaichenko gained a victory. Candidate’s refusal to take part in the elections in this district will definitely increase the intrigue and competition among other candidates. Moreover, it will deprive Ternopil region of one of the most active candidates.
