The “Open challenge” competition is an opportunity to engage Ukrainian and foreign open data experts in your town and efficiently introduce open data policy.

How to accept the OPEN CHALLENGE

“City Data” initiative challenges anyone who has a relation to the subject of open data. If you are ready to accept it, the experts of “City Data” initiative will support your city in realization of the state open data policy.

We invite:

  • non-governmental organizations, which want to work on data openness in their cities;
  • city councils, which need assistance to introduce open data policy in their cities;
  • initiative groups, which have joined to open the data and introduce open data culture in their city; as well as groups, willing to develop city services based on the open data.

The winners will get everything

We will select five cities for a pilot study in the Data Academy, where specialists and experts of the “City Data” initiative will conduct awareness rising and training events. The selected cities and regions will receive:

  1. trainings, conducted by foreign specialists;
  2. preliminary data audit and further realization of the open data policy in the city;
  3. participation in the Personal Democracy Forum;
  4. participation of politicians, who are authorized to introduce the open data policy, in capacity building trainings, and an opportunity to cooperate with experts in this field;
  5. cooperation with the experts in this field;
  6. facilitate networking with foreign colleagues.

How to apply?

We will select participants and reserve participants from five pilot cities.

You need to take up the following steps to get your city selected as a pilot location for the open data policy initiative:

Step I:

Complete an online application. The reference is HERE (Important: until July 10 inclusive!)

Step II:

We will select the participants (non-governmental organizations, city councils, initiatives), which fit into the selection criteria for the “City Data” initiative and “OPEN CHALLENGE” competition. Candidates may have to pass an interview (phone or skype) for additional information.
