44 candidates are running for Presidential elections in Ukraine due on March, 31, 2019. Central Election Commission was considering the registration of Ukrainian Presidential candidates from January 4 till February 8.
Thus, over 90 persons submitted their documents from December 31 till February 3, of whom the CEC registered 44 candidates.
Among the Presidential candidates, 40 are men, while 4 are women: Yuliya Tymoshenko, Olha Bohomolets, Inna Bohoslovska, Yuliya Lytvynenko.
Average age of candidates is 50 years. The age group of 35-45 includes 15 registered candidates, 45-60 group – 22 candidates, over 60 – 7.
24 candidates for the Head of State are nominated by the parties, whereas 20 candidates are self-nominated.
At the same time, 26 of them are members of parties, 18 candidates are not affiliated with any party membership.
The registered candidates include 16 people’s deputies. Two of the candidates, Yuliya Lytvynenko and Andriy Novak, are unemployed, one candidate – Roman Nasirov – has not stated any place of employment.
The candidates include two pairs with the same last names: Ihor Shevchenko and Oleksandr Shevchenko, Yuliya Tymoshenko and Yuriy Tymoshenko.
It must be noted that the 2019 Presidential elections hit the record for the number of candidates. Thus, in 1991, 6 candidates were running for presidency, in 2004, there were 26 of them, in 2014 – 23.
